Ran! In the snow!! There was no way I was walking all the way up to the park, running, walking back and shopping on the way – so I went the long way round the extended neighbourhood and ended up at the shops, which saved me loads of time – an hour door-to-door including shopping. By the time I finished the jogging section I was congratulating myself on what a great idea it was!
It was snowing in my face and very windy at the start and I think I over-did it then because the rest of it felt very slow BUT it’s done, it was efficient, and I quiet enjoyed it. People obviously thought I was mad! But that’s fine. However on the way back from the shops the snow got heavier and it was blowing a gale too, and absolutely freezing – trying to carry shopping with no gloves, and a sweaty head with no hat – now I’ll admit that part of the plan was incredibly stupid! Having just gotten over one cold I have probably given myself another :S
The snow was a nice distraction though – and the run got done successfully so I’m pleased. 23min continuous jogging, 2.43km covered, 7 weeks until official running season begins.
The other thing I love about running is it just puts everything in perspective. I can be dithering about what I’m doing with my day but once I get back from a run (especially in the cold!) things are quite simple: I need a nice hot bath, a meal, a pot of tea and a rest! Everything else can wait…
