Week 10 was a killer week where I totally turned it around – started out not knowing WHERE I was going, and ended up in that sweet spot where I feel content and confident that I’m on track.
A2) Weigh 140 (2.2lb/week): I lost 1.6lb off the top-line (highest weights). In ten weeks I’ve only lost 9lb off the top-line (not that I started on the top-line) but my bottom-line is down 21lb on where I started the year so at least that gives me hope! It was a better week, but Friday was horrible and that set me back. If it hadn’t been for that I’m pretty sure I could have hit my 2.5lb target. I can see the difference in myself and my clothes are looser and I’m hopeful that I can get in a few good weeks now and see that top-line weight come down a good way.
A3) Observe an exercise regime and meal programme that works for me and ticks over in the background. 6×6!! Done!! I was so impressed with myself! Swam all four work-days, did a rowing workout at home on Saturday, had Sunday off and ran in the snow on Monday, plus six straight days of kettlebell swings and proper push-ups. I was exhausted on Friday but I knew I could do it – now to do it again and again until it becomes the norm. There are 7 weeks until running season starts.
B1) Combined practice target of 720-730 hours or more (15h/week on average): 16h20 done – got ahead, had a massive day on Saturday, and just had a tiny bit left to do on Monday so got the extra in without even trying. One song recorded and uploaded. I played a bit more piano than last week and remembered my goals for that so felt more motivated. Some really sweet song sessions – I’m feeling hopeful about getting to gigging level by the end of the year.
C1) Read at least one book each in Japanese, French and German (5/8/4 pages) – Not done.
C2) Retain the ability to write all the kanji I’ve learned so far (up to level 3) – weekly test rotation. Had a week off the test rotation to practice the hardest ones instead. I think I got through three runs of testing, so not too bad – I did what I had time to do.
C3) Learn the rest of my 常用漢字 (standard kanji) and be able to write any character from the reading/meaning: 12 characters a week. No time for this this week. Need to work out better balance to fit this in.
C5) Improve written French (work on this weekly) – ½ hour/week – Not done BUT I found out about Lang8 which is going to help with this!
C8) German listening – at least once/week on walks to work – Done! I’m so over the basic course now and have downloaded a load of podcasts to make things more interesting. One is a detailed deconstruction of an example dialogue with analysis of key vocab and grammar points, which is just what I need without written materials to go along with it. There’s also a funny classical music section where they tell you to sit back and relax! Like! The other one is a podcast about German pop music, like a radio show where they play and interview a certain act each time – I don’t understand it all but I like the music and it’s interesting!
C9) Read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in Russian – 14 pages or tapered version – Done, think I’m getting a bit faster too!
C10) Incidental languages – one session a week, ½ hour – Not done. Lord knows when I’ll get time to start this up!
G1) Pass F9 and become officially “part qualified” – 2hours per week – I think I did 2/4 days.
E1) Weekly card – Done! I made a Spring card for my JP teacher and a washi-tape card for H.
E2) Weekly scrapbook page – Done – some pictures from last weekend’s trip to J’s.
F1) Maintain friendships – I was meant to see T but she cancelled, so that was my one plan for the week gone. We went out for lunch but nothing else. Don’t mind it being on the sparse side for now though.
F2) Weekly post item – Done at the last minute – card for H. I was all up to date but then I received a Japanese letter so I have that to answer next week.
F3) Weekly gift – I spent a LOT of time making gifts for T (earrings, a scarf hand-embroidered with beads, little boxes and a bag!) and then never got the chance to give them to her! The deadline and the time-consuming nature of these things really set me off my game this week and stressed me out. Looking at it though I don’t have any other gifts to sort out until June so maybe I can have a rest now, or start putting things aside for Christmas.
WORK TOWARDS MONTHLY GOALS:
A4) Tackle one eating habit per month – my habit for March is to write down my feelings just before I eat. Not been doing this consistently BUT I have been more mindful and really tried to control my intake even though the temptation was there to ignore it and delve into comfort foods. I’ve been doing my best through the hardest part of my cycle.
E3) Monthly sewing project – Finished the Cowl for T so that’s one project done and dusted for this month!
I posted yesterday about all the extra stuff I did this week to get myself back on track so won’t repeat that here, but I’m feeling SO much better. In terms of the flow of time, we have 3 more weeks to Easter and the end of 1Q, 4 weeks of April/audit time/remaining morning darkness and then once we get to May, start running 3 times a week hopefully (I don’t think I’ve ever been more ready for running season!) and there are 6 weeks to my potential exam, then three weeks to the end of 2Q, two of which I’m due to be on holiday! So that turning point of reaching LWY, debt-freedom and music-mastery (Ready to Record) is getting closer and closer. It’s an uphill struggle at the moment but the second half of this year should be SO MUCH BETTER and more fun and more positive than the first, IF I put the work in now.
